Course overview
This program is designed for those credit and lending professionals that have acclimated to the real estate lending world but want to take their underwriting skills to the next level. Topics covered focus on understanding and evaluating lease terms, loan structuring basics and appraisals. Appraisals including the three approaches to value and basic loan documentation. The cases focus on both income producing credits and owner occupied loans.

Upon completion of the course participants will be able to demonstrate their knowledge of the following:
- How to do an income property cash flow
- The credit and real estate risks involved in complicated transactions
- How to do discounted cash flow analysis
- How to evaluate the lease terms and their affect on marketability and underwriting
- The regulatory framework that governs appraisals
- The sales comparison approach to value
- The income approach to value
- The cost approach to value
- The issues related to appraisal review
Format and Timeframe
The FTG approach is to customize all materials and case studies to reflect the lending environment actually experienced by the participant. Classroom lecture and discussion is supplemented by group exercises to keep the course both fast paced and interesting. This course can be taught in 2 to 3 days depending upon the experience level of the participants.
