Course Goals
The program is an introductory course in trade finance. Anyone involved in international banking activity is encouraged to attend. The course objective is to provide participants with hands-on knowledge of the principal aspects of trade finance, including financing techniques, risk elements, services and products, export assistance programs and overall pitfalls to be avoided.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to demonstrate their knowledge of the following:
- The basics of collections and letters of credit
- Back to back, standby, revolving, and transferable credits
- How bankers acceptances are used to finance trade
- The mechanics of trust receipts and factoring
- How to work with the export assistance agencies
- Import and export trade finance products
- How to establish sub limits for trade finance products
Format and Timeframe
The FTG approach is to customize all materials and case studies to reflect the lending environment actually experienced by the participant. Classroom lecture and discussion is supplemented by group exercise and role-play to keep the course both fast paced and interesting. This course can be taught in one and a half to two days depending upon the experience level of the participants.
